Permit granted
After several months of preparation we booked flight tickets, a trekking agency, …
Only one thing was missing … a climbing permit for the Himlung. To get this permit, we had to fill in an application form and a short biodata of all members of the expedition. After sending these papers to Asian Trekking, our trekking agency in Nepal, they brought it to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism an Civil Aviation, Mountaineering Division. After paying a small amount of the climbing permit fee (= royalty Himlung), on 11th of July we received the good news that the Preliminary Mountaineering Expedition Permit was granted by the Ministry of Tourism.
Once again one step closer to Mt. Himlung!

Team phone home
We chose to climb a mountain off the beaten track. There 's no civilisation, not even near Himlung Himal, which is great but it has a negative side to it as well though: in case of an emergency, it 's nearly impossible to call for help. Off course mobile phones are out of the question. The only solution is a satellite phone, which is very expensive.
So we asked Belgacom, Belgium's leading telecom operator, if they could provide us with a satellite phone and they agreed!
So now, we can also use this phone to keep you all posted on how we're doing on the mountain!

It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.
