Another field trip

People's war
A Maoist people's war in Nepal was declared in 1996 in response to government corruption. The government calls them terrorists, but Maoist leaders say they are fighting on behalf of the majority rural poor to rid the country of a feudal system that favors only a small urban elite. They are trying to establish a communist environment when communism is fading away fast in the rest of the world.
The cease-fire negotiated in January, has been abandoned by the Maoist rebels, which off course got people really worried. To date, tourists have not been the subject of attacks, so there is no security problem with any tourists in Nepal. Nepal is a hospital country and people are very friendly. However, we 'll be on a high state of vigilance when out and about.

It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.
